Since my appointment to the Senate in 1984, I have looked for new and innovative ways to improve channels of communication with my constituents in Alberta. It is my hope that the Web site I have maintained since 1995 has achieved that goal. Moreover, as Speaker of the Senate from January 2001 to February 2006, I endeavoured to inform the public, in Alberta, Canada and abroad, about my various activities through the Speaker's Web site.

Inside, you will find the last updated version of that site as I left it in February 2006 when I moved on to become Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. I trust that by exploring these archives, you will be in a better position to understand more about the Senate, its Speaker, and the role I played in that capacity.
